PRESS RELEASE See and hear The Chilham All Stars in concert At Chilham Village Hall on Friday 23rd July I heard this band perform at the 100 club in memory of Cambell Burnap and was so impressed with the sheer fun and expertise they brought to jazz (which for some people can be just too complicated) that I was determined that they should play at Chilham. For starters their repertoire included tunes that most of the audience would recognise. The joie de vivre that emanated from the stage was so infectious so as to make the audience light hearted at what could have been a sad occasion. This music is just too good to miss. Roy williams on trombone has in the past teamed up with Jack Teagarden, Alex Welsh, Bob Brookmeyer, Humphrey Littleton and as Digby Fairweather says ..." is a natural heir to George Chisholm - consistently perfect" Enrico Tomasso on trumpet Always in demand as a top flight player, his on stage performances with Acker Bilk, Ray Gelato, Scot Hamilton, Alan Barnes, Bucky Pizzarelli, Warren Vache, Claire Teal, and John Dankworth all give credit to the breadth of his talent. Ron Drake on tenor sax and clarinet had been with Campbell Burnap till Campbell's demise. He has toured with George Chisholm, appeared at the legendary Eddie Condon club in New York and is also a regular performer with Georgie Fame, Scott Hamilton and Elaine Delmar . Ron makes a huge contribution to the evening's entertainment. John Pearce on keyboard. Always lyrical. From his playing with Geraldo, The Ray Ellington Quartet, The Jack Parnell Orchestra, Billy May, James Last, Anita O'Day, Elaine Delmar, Scott Hamilton, Ronnie Scott, Tommy Whittle, Warren Vache, and the BBC Radio Orchestra, John has a very impressive musical pedigree. John Rees Jones on bass has worked with artistes as varied as Yehudi Menuhin, Keith Tippett, Ted Heath, Don Lusher, the Inkspots, Petula Clark. His televison and radio appearance include The South Bank Show, The Noel Edmonds Show, the BBC1 Breakfast Show and many of the West End musicals. Richie Bryant on drums was for seven years with The Terry Lightfoot band. He later joined Dave Shepherd and since May 1972 has been and still is the drummer with Acker Bilk & his Paramount Jazz Band. Impressive ... isn't it. Join the fun.
